Yobe records index case as COVID-19 spreads to Abuja, 34 states

Yobe State has recorded its index COVID-19 case, The PUNCH reports.
This brings the number of states affected by the virus to 35 including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, according to data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Wednesday night.
The Centre announced 196 new cases in the country, bringing the total coronavirus infections to 1728 while 307 recoveries and 51 fatalities have been reported.

“196 new cases of #COVID19 reported; 87 – Lagos, 24 – Kano, 18 – Gombe, 17 – Kaduna, 16 – FCT, 10 – Katsina, 8 – Sokoto, 7 – Edo, 6 – Borno, 1 – Yobe, 1 – Ebonyi and 1 – Adamawa.
“As at 11:55pm 29th April- 1728 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged – 307. Deaths – 51,” it stated.
Based on this latest record from the NCDC, Cross River and Kogi were the two states yet to confirm any COVID-19 case in the country.
